Finding me

Does anyone else have a friend they haven’t seen in a long time, yet when you see each other, it feels like no time has passed at all?

A friend you shared childhood memories with.
A friend you spent countless days and nights with.
A friend you laughed with, cried with, and trusted with your deepest secrets.

Some friendships never really fade. Life changes, people move away, and years go by, yet certain people will always hold a special place in your heart.

A friend who may not know every detail about your current life anymore.
A friend who now lives thousands of miles away.

I have one.

I’ve known her for over 30 years. At one point, we were inseparable. She was closer to me than a sister. We spent holidays and birthdays together, creating memories that still live in my heart today.

Life eventually took us in different directions. We moved apart, built our own lives, and time created distance between us. We don’t talk every day, and sometimes not even for long periods of time.

But whenever we see each other again, something beautiful happens.

For a moment, we become those same teenage girls again. We laugh the same way. We remember the same stories. It feels familiar, comforting, and unchanged.

It’s fun to think about all the memories we have together.

I have never met anyone else like her. She will forever be my best friend, even when life keeps us apart. Somehow, whenever we see each other again, it feels like we never left.
