My longest journey

The longest trip I’ve ever taken, both in distance and time, was to Mexico when I was in my twenties.

We traveled by road to my grandparents’ hometown, a very small town in Guerrero, Mexico. The drive took about two days, and once we arrived, we stayed in Mexico for a couple of months.

During that time, we didn’t stay in just one place. We traveled through several different states and visited places such as Mexico City, Veracruz, Puebla, and Tamaulipas. I still remember how beautiful the road was. There was so much to see along the way, and every place felt a little different.

Looking back, I realize how special that trip really was. It wasn’t just the longest trip I had ever taken—it gave me the opportunity to see my grandparents’ hometown and travel through parts of Mexico I might never have experienced otherwise.

I was young then, in my twenties, and probably didn’t appreciate it as much as I would today. But all these years later, I still remember that long road through Mexico and the places we saw along the way.
