Why did I choose the name Stories Along the Way for my blog?
Because I feel that everyone has stories to tell along the path of life.
Life is full of them. The things we live through, the things we witness, the people we love, the dreams we have, the regrets we carry, the mistakes we make, our culture, our traditions, and even those ordinary moments that somehow stay with us.
They are all part of our dash—that little line between the day we are born and the day we leave this world. Such a small line, yet it represents an entire lifetime.
Stories Along the Way is my way of filling in my dash.
It’s about telling my story through my eyes and my experiences. It’s not only about what happened to me. It’s about how I saw it, how I felt, and what I learned along the way.
I am not a professional writer. I don’t have years of experience, and I don’t know how many people will ever read what I write.
And I’m okay with that.
I’m writing my life.
I’m leaving a trace that I was here.
Writing has also made me realize something about myself. I have lived through a lot of difficult chapters. I don’t think I fully realized how many until I started putting them into words.
But just like a book, my life isn’t made up of only difficult chapters. There has been love, laughter, culture, family, accomplishments, memories, dreams, and so many good moments in between.
And my story isn’t over.
I still hold the pen, and I intend to make the rest of it beautiful.
One day, I hope my grandchildren will read these stories. They may know me simply as Grandma, but they’ll be able to go back and meet the woman I was before I became their grandma.
They’ll know what made me laugh, what broke my heart, what I dreamed about, what I struggled with, what I believed in, and what my road through life looked like.
They’ll know their grandma wasn’t a professional writer.
She simply believed her life was worth writing about.
But I’m not writing only for the people who come after me.
I’m sure someone, somewhere, will recognize themselves in one of my stories. They may read something and think, Yes, I’ve felt that. I’ve lived that too.
If my words can reach even one person and help them feel understood, less alone, or simply remind them that someone else has walked a similar road, then sharing my experiences has meant something.
I don’t need thousands of readers for that.
Sometimes reaching one person is enough.
Everyone has Stories Along the Way. Not everyone chooses to share theirs publicly.
I choose to tell mine.
Writing has given me a new purpose, but it has also given me something I didn’t expect.
Writing has become my happy place.
These may be my experiences and my words, told through my eyes.
But that’s the beautiful thing about sharing our stories.
I may be writing about my life, but perhaps somewhere along the way, I’m writing about yours too.
