The Cry that Changed Everything

What’s a moment in your life that made you feel truly alive?

The moment that made me feel truly alive was when I heard my son cry for the first time.

I was 37, and I had been waiting for this moment for a very long time. In fact, I had already started to lose hope that it would ever happen for me.

When I finally got pregnant, I thought I would enjoy every moment because I had waited so long. But I didn’t enjoy my pregnancy as much as I thought I would. I was afraid something might happen or that my son might have health issues. During the last few months, I had appointments every week, so there was always worry in the back of my mind.

Even though I had carried him for nine months, it didn’t completely feel real until I heard that first cry.

I remember thinking, Okay, this is real. He is here.

For the first time, I felt like I could let go of the fear and worry I had carried throughout my pregnancy. I didn’t have to keep wondering if everything was going to be okay.

My son was finally here.

That was the moment I felt truly alive.
